Why oh why am I still playing Genshin Impact? Why do I log in day after day? Seriously, why!? It’s not a “good” game by any stretch of the imagination. Hell, I would barely categorize it as a mediocre game at best. The story is forgettable, character missions are just the most boring experience I think I’ve ever had, content dries up like a scorching dessert, and most of the events they add periodically is just filler busy work that most of the time absolutely sucks. Not kidding, one event literally had you delivering food to people. Um yeah they can take that crap and shove it.
Oh and the atrocious resin system! It’s basically a currency that you spend to simply play the game! My brain can’t fathom why a developer doesn’t want it’s players to, oh I don’t know, actually play their game! It refreshes so slow and after about ten minutes you are tapped out with nothing to do until the next day.
Don’t get me started on the premium currency and the wish system. 98% of the stuff you get from the wishes is complete garbage. Consisting of mostly of trash weapons. The developers are also stingy with said currency as completing an event that rewards this currency isn’t even enough to make one wish. Not even one! How greedy can they get? They have made so much money in just a short time from all the poor suckers out there that they can afford to be a little more generous.
Overall most of the content is just very average to below average at best. Now back to my question, why am I still playing this game? It’s addicting. I know, kind of the point of this game but it works. I like saving up a bunch of primogems and then dumping them all on a special character wish event. I like grinding the content to upgrade and level up my characters. The gameplay is actually pretty good and I do like collecting and playing the different characters.
I can see the developers purse strings slowly loosing over time and one day I hope all of my criticisms are erased. I know they are playing the long game and I suppose I will ride this ship to the end.
